Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Review

Samsung Galaxy Note 8 is the latest version of  the "Galaxy Note" series and also the successor to the Note 7 which had a bad experience last year, due to the explosion of the battery. With Galaxy Note 8 , the lost glory of Samsung is being reclaimed.

The new Samsung Galaxy Note 8 is a prestigious model that's created in a bid to make the series regain it's centre of attention again, following the disastrous event that befell its predecessor. Right now Samsung Galaxy Note 8 is arguably having the best Qualcomm processor right now, the model compares in every aspect to the flagship S8, and it even beats some other devices in some aspects.

Overview

The Galaxy Note 8 has a Phablet size coupled with a good body to screen ratio of 83.2%, due to it’s edge to edge display. The Note 8 has a screen measure 6.3 inches with a Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen of 1440 by 2960 pixels and a corning gorilla 5 screen protection.

Samsung Galaxy Note 8 comes in three different variants in terms of ROM, it has the 64GB, 128GB and 256GB variants to choose from and are all manufactured with the same RAM capacity of 6GB. It also comes in two different variants in terms of SIM and card slot. It has a dual SIM and a single SIM version, the dual SIM variant has no SD card slot while the single SIM variant has an SD card slot.

As per processors, Galaxy Note 8 versions are available in USA and China will come with an impressive Octa-core (4×2.35 GHz Kryo & 4×1.9 GHz Kryo) CPU and a Qualcomm MSM8998 Snapdragon 835 chipset, While the global version will have an impressive Octa-core (4×2.3 GHz & 4×1.7 GHz) and Exynos 8895 Octa chipset too.

Design and Display

Judging by the looks, it's obvious that it is a premium smartphone. The Samsung Galaxy Note 8 has a design language similar to that of the Galaxy S8 Plus. It sports a curved glass for both the front and rear. It is resistant to both water and dust.

The smartphone comes with a grandiose 6.3-inch Super AMOLED display which offers plentiful and convenient space for content viewing. Images are super sharp with Quad HD resolution of 1440 x 2960 pixels with an approximated density of 521 PPI pixel density. Samsung Galaxy Note 8 also supports an S-Pen which can be used to draw and translate.

Camera and Storage

The Samsung Galaxy Note 8 will probably give an impressive result for those who like taking pictures. It has a dual 12MP setup on the rear with dual LED, dual tone flash, phase detection, autofocus, optical image stabilisation (OIS), and 2X optical zoom. It also produces high quality 4K videos.

It also comes with an impressive 8MP front facing shooter with an aperture of f/1.7, Auto HDR and autofocus for taking selfies and also produces 2K videos at 30 fps.

Hardware and Software

It is expected to hope for the best performance from this smartphone range as the specifications above seem to be mouth-watering. The software runs with a flagship class of Octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset running at up to 2.35 GHz . And also comes with an Exynos 8895 Octa-core processor in some markets.

The phablet offers 6 GB of RAM and comes in 64GB, 128GB and a huge 256GB storage variants. And the  most fascinating part is that the storage space will still be expandable. Samsung Galaxy Note 8 boots an Operating System of Android 7.1.1 (Nougat).
It also has a fingerprint scanner mounted at the rear and an iris scanner for unlocking the Samsung Galaxy Note 8. It offers a reversible USB Type-C port and a 3,300mAh battery which supports fast charging which makes it more impressive.
