Samsung created a new mid-range product to compete with the other major smartphone developers such as Xiaomi within this category, with its Galaxy E7. It should be noted that the Samsung Galaxy E7 has been released at the same time with the A7 smartphone, from the same company, the only difference between them being the outer casing and the price. The E7 has a casing made out of plastic, thus making the product cheaper while the A7 case is metallic, both smartphones boasting same technical specs.
The Galaxy E7 maintains the typical Samsung design and appearance, having a plastic body with rounded edges and a metal band together with a soft matte back, which gives the user a nice grip over the phone, thus keeping the product simple but stylish and generally smooth. This smartphone easily enters in the lightweight category when it comes to size and weight, weighing only 139 grams.
The new Galaxy E7 boasts a 5.5 inch HD display reproducing a high grade of colour while also maintaining an overall quality of the displayed graphics. Its graphical reproduction is pleasing at 267ppi even though it is not as sharp as some other phones found within the same price range. The displays touchscreen, however, is highly responsive and easy to work with, proving to be of excellent quality.
The smartphone comes equipped with a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor, 2 gigabytes of RAM memory and 16 GB of internal memory, thus making the product highly efficient with any task and even being capable of running the highest end games and a great frame rate. The internal storage can be expanded together with the extra microSD slot it comes equipped with, which translates to an additional 64GB of space.
It has a 13 Megapixel rear camera, capable of taking HD videos and high-grade pictures while also having a 5 Megapixel front camera with a fixed focus. The phone, however, can only use 3G connectivity, thus limiting it a bit when compared to its counterparts.
The Samsung Galaxy E7 works using the Android 4.4.4 KitKat Operating System together with the TouchWiz user interface. While the Touchwiz interface is widely accepted by a large number of peoples, some find it to be too heavily infused with unwanted or unneeded applications. At the same time, Samsung did a well job implements highly useful camera features and applications for the users to explore, especially if they are into the selfie trend, due to applications such as "Wide Selfie" or "Palm Selfie".
The Galaxy E7 is generally well received; it is indeed a well-developed smartphone. However, a large amount of smartphone enthusiasts are avoiding it due to better options found within this price range.
