Nokia 215 Review

The new Nokia 215 is an excellent phone for just doing the primary objectives of a phone, which are to make calls and send SMS. It is expected to cost at around £19, and it delivers great call quality with a robust phone build. The 2G phone also works only 1800MHz, and 900MHz frequency means that it is great for a spare phone if you do not want to use it as your primary device. The Nokia 215 definitely has its own market for people looking for simple, basic handsets.

The Nokia 215 has the best design that you would want in a budget phone. It has a thin, short profile with a robust build. It weighs only 78.4g, and it is 12.9mm thick. The back can be removed to showcase the microSD slot and the battery. The phone is made using a strong polycarbonate plastic so that you can put it easily in your purse or pocket. The rounded edges on the Nokia 215 also make it simple to carry around. The matte finish, which is quite slippery, is not such a big problem in this device as it can be easily held in one hand.

There is a basic 320 X 240 2.4 inch screen on the Nokia 215. It supports 262,000 colours, which admittedly is much better than just black and white. Navigation on the phone is done through using the conventional 4-way directional button and 2 soft keys. The keypad on this device is very responsive and also rubbery.

There is a primary camera fitted on the Nokia 215 with a basic 0.3MP resolution. There is a torch or flashlight at the top of the device next to the charging port and headset jack. In keeping up with the current Nokia trend of using neon colours, the Nokia 215 is available in a bright shade of green or calmer shades of either white or black.

The proprietary operating system used in the Nokia 215 is very simple to navigate around. There is a Go to key that can launch several features, such as the flashlight or camera. For more applications, pressing the Menu key brings up all the phone applications including contacts, alarm clock and music player. There is also 2G internet, which can be accessed through Opera browser, which compresses the images and data to accommodate slower browsing speeds.

There is an FM radio app for entertainment. You can also download several games and apps through the application store. There is a preloaded Bing search installed, and there are separate apps for photos, videos and weather. Overall, the Nokia 215 is quite practical and has a long lasting battery.
