Huawei Ascend GX1 is a great phone aimed at budget conscious people, but it is still packed with some great features. Upfront, the almost bezel-less device has 6 inches of pure HD IPS display to provide a 80% screen to body ratio. With the 720X1280 HD display on the Huawei Ascend GX1, videos and pictures are quite crisp, with a nice viewing angle. It is also very clear to use outdoors even when you have not selected full brightness. The screen is quite responsive to the touch, and it displays some great colours.

Running Android 4.4 KitKat, the Huawei Ascend GX1 also has Huawei’s Emotion UI installed. This means there is no application tray, and all applications reside within the several home screen pages, similar to the iOS. Nevertheless, so as to avoid the Huawei Ascend GX1 from being cluttered unnecessarily, several of the utilities have been placed into folders. Users can reshuffle and rearrange the apps to whatever suits them.

For imaging, the Huawei Ascend GX1 has both a primary and secondary camera. The main 8MP camera can take very clear and vivid photos, and it also has an LED flash. There is a very pleasing depth to images taken using this camera, and it is great for capturing landscapes, stills and other various scenes. However, images taken at night are decent looking but noisy. The secondary 2MP camera is sufficient for taking all your favourite selfies.

The Huawei Ascend GX1 runs on a powerful 1.2GHz 64 bit Snapdragon processor, with a RAM of 1GB. This provides enough power for surfing the net, making calls, playing games and even watching videos. You can easily play 3D games on the device without experiencing any lag. The big 6 inch screen also makes using the phone very smooth.

Many phones being produced nowadays are not coming with expandable microSD slots, such as the latest Galaxy S6. However, besides providing 8GB of internal storage, the Huawei Ascend GX1 offers an additional microSD card slot that can be used to expand the memory up to an incredible 32GB. Thus, if you like to download apps and save a lot of media on your device, then you can easily expand the Huawei Ascend GX1 memory by just buying an extra SD card.

Connectivity options included on the Huawei Ascend GX1 are Bluetooth 4.0, NFC, Wi-Fi, 4G LTE, and A-GPS/GPS. The smartphone also has a large 3500mAh battery that can give a full day of charge, so you don’t need to keep carrying your charger around. Even though it has quite a large display, the handset is only 173 grams and can easily fit in your hand.
