Over the years, Gionee has been producing record-breaking smartphones. The Chinese company is credited with having produced the thinnest smartphones under their Elife models and now have come up with the Marathon M3. This Smartphone promises unrivalled battery life longevity with its chunky 5000mAh battery. The phone promises to work over a longer period with heavy usage as compared to regular smartphones, whereas in standby mode it can go for days. The phone can also be used to charge other devices making it quite useful. This phone has generated a lot of interest from consumers, and it is only right for us to offer up a useful and informative review.

The Gionee Marathon M3 bears a simple Smartphone design with an imposing 5 inch display. There is a front camera while the back has a rear camera, a loud speaker and flash. Although the battery is not removable, the back cover can be removed. Under the back cover, you will find two SIM card slots and a memory card slot as well. The phone is made of a plastic cover all around. The large 5000mAh battery makes sure that the phone stays thicker than most smartphones on the market. It also contributes to most of the 180 gram weight of the phone.

The phone comes with some useful features including a 2MP front facing camera for selfies while the 8MP rear facing camera is great at capturing higher quality images. It also comes with a flash feature as well. The phone has a 720p IPS display. However, it can be somewhat challenging to use this phone in bright sunlight.

The Gionee Marathon M3 is powered by a 1.3 MHz quad-core processor, has 1GB RAM and 8GB internal storage, which can be expanded to 128GB. It uses Android 4.2.2 operating system. During use, you may experience lags, as it requires numerous touches to respond at times. It is not surprising to have to put in an effort in pulling the drop down menu at the top of the screen. App crashes are also frequent with this phone.

Plus points on performance include great support for heavy/large video games indicating that the problem with performance does not lie with the hardware. The phone also plays videos well. The DTS sound feature means you can enjoy quality sound without any form of distortion even at high volume levels. All-in-all, the phone’s media performance is great when compared to other phones at this price range.

The Gionee Marathon M3 is built for its battery life prowess. On this front, the phone delivers as promised. The battery can easily last for several days with moderate usage. On the other hand, when in standby mode it is impressive lasting even longer. It can be used to charge other devices through OTG as well.
